Francois Haeringer Culinary Scholarship opportunities from the FICS

The French International Culinary Society is offering scholarships for students that aspire to become professional cooks and help preserve traditions of quality in the French Culinary Art.

The scholarship was established in the name of famed Chef and restaurateur Francoise Haeringer and the Haeringer family, and is available to culinary students who meet a specific set of criteria. Winners will be announced in December 2010.

Wine tasting and live music at Bistro Lepic & Wine Bar

During this Tuesday’s complimentary wine tasting (August 3), Bistro Lepic & Wine Bar will be showcasing a 2009 Côtes du Ventoux Domaine de Béranne and a 2009 Domaine de Martinolles Pays D’Oc.

The Georgetown restaurant also will be featuring live singing every Wednesday this month, with each show beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Bastille Day celebration highlighted in Washington Life Magazine

Washington Life’s “Event” section has captured the French International Culinary Society’s successful “RED, WHITE & BRUT!” celebration, which was held July 8 at the Washington Club. A write-up of this year’s Bastille Day event is now spotlighted on the publication’s website.

Bisnow on-line report features Bastille Day celebration

Bisnow’s “The Scene” social report captured the French International Culinary Society (FICS) Red, White and Brut celebration in Dupont circle on July 8, 2010. This Bastille Day celebration was held at The Washington Club.

Six of Washington, DC’s top chefs offered samples of their food, while Veuve Cliquot and Moet & Chandon champagnes were served in addition to artisan wines.

Noted attendees captured by Bisnow for the publication’s pictures were Petit Plats’ chef de cuisine Patrick Moulet, and La Chaumiere’s chef/ proprietor Patrick Orange. The write up on the FICS event ran in Bisnow’s The Scene on July 9.

Bastille Day celebration takes shape

The line-up is quickly coming together for the French International Culinary Society’s “RED, WHITE & BRUT!” celebration on Thursday, July 8.

To date, the list of participating restaurants includes Bastille, Bistro La Bonne, Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar, Central & Citronelle and many more.

This year’s event – hosted at The Washington Club at Dupont Circle – is a true Bastille Day celebration with the best in French food, Champagne and artisan wines.

Bistro Lepic & Wine Bar gets ready for the French Restaurant Week

Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar has revealed its discounted menus for this year’s French Restaurant Week – the annual D.C. metro area celebration highlighted by gourmet specials and deals from FICS member restaurants.

This traditional French restaurant, located in the Georgetown area, will offer an extensive three-course prix fix menu (lunch and dinner) from July 9-15.

The Football World Cup comes to Bistro La Bonne

The Petits Plats restaurant welcomes Patrick Moulet as its Chef de Cuisine

FICS member Patrick Moulet has settled in as the Petits Plats restaurant’s Chef de Cuisine in Washington, D.C.  Moulet is from the southwest region of France, and has strong roots in Washington, including as Chef de Cuisine at Georgetown’s La Chaumière restaurant.

Wine & Cheese Tasting Dinner with a special “ambassador” on June 9

Washington, D.C.’s Bistro Lepic continues its series of themed events with a wine and cheese tasting dinner on Wednesday, June 9.  It will be presided by “Cheese Ambassador” Bruno Millerioux, a member of the FICS board of directors, who works at International Gourmet Foods.

June 2: Live music at Bistro Lepic & Wine Bar

Tomorrow, FICS member restaurant Bistro Lepic will treat its guests to a special performance by the Lynn Véronneau Trio – an Arlington-based ensemble specializing in Latin jazz and Gypsy swing.

This Georgetown restaurant features live music on the first Wednesday of every month, hosted in the Wine Bar of Bistrot Lepic.
